The plans
The existing swimming pool has been covered with a retractable “telescopic” roof, allowing the pool to be used all-year-round. The pool will be enclosed during colder winter months to retain heat and opened up during better summer weather. This type of roof is much cheaper than a conventional fixed building, and also keeps out dirt and debris, and reduces maintenance and heating costs by keeping the water temperature 10-12° higher.
With brand new showers, a toilet and changing rooms, the pool can also be hired out for community use too, for example for swimming lessons.
